Laundry Room DIY

::Hi Cherished Ones::

We moved into our house over a year ago and I’m still working on making it a home that we live in and not just a house that we reside at. Here is a small glimpse into a little of that personalization.

This was a small space and I knew it was doable in a weekend and once it was done I was going to feel like a huge task was completed.

I started by painting the walls this gray color that I actually MADE by mixing leftover paints that we had. I was told not to by the other half, since we wouldn’t be able to touch up if needed. But since one of my closest girlfriends is a paint store manager/color mermaid extraordinaire I wasn’t all that concerned. I then painted the shelf black and also painted the outlets and switches black.

Then came the fun stuff. Putting all the pieces together!!!

🧺Signs were made by me with my Cricut using reverse canvas technique. ((If you are interested in learning more about that let me know in the comments below))
🧺Tin vase with cotton stalks in it were both from Wal*Mart.
🧺Beverage container I already had and added laundry soap.
🧺Laundry soap sign was made by me with my Cricut.
🧺Basket is just there to store all other cleaning products needed for the laundry closet.
🧺Clothes pin wreath was made with 3 packs of clothes pin and a wreath form from the Dollar Tree. ((If you would like a tutorial, please let me know in the comments down below.))
🧺Lint basket was from Ross and I added the word “LINT” with my Cricut.
🧺Washboard was a $10 score from Offerup!

I love the way the laundry closet turned out. It was especially important for this to be a top-of-the-list project because its open and at the very top of the stairs in our home.

Please let me know what you think about this DIY home project! What is your favorite part? Least favorite part? What would you change?

The HIGHEST Quality Sunnies for Your Buck!

I learned about Quay by getting a pair of Vivienne’s in my FabFitFun box last summer. I was obsessed with them. I wore them out! I am on my THIRD pair of just THESE sunnies. The first pair my sister was obsessed with so I gave them to her. I missed them so much that I bought myself another pair. THOSE got so scratched up that I bought THIS pair…and well, they were having a BOGO ((Buy One Get One FREE)) so I bought myself FOUR pairs!

These are sorta my go-to everyday pair!

The Playa-BLK/PINK

These are my fun summer pair. Perfectly paired with white tee and jeans! These, however are a bit fragile. I did break these after wearing them twice. I messaged Quay and told them what happened and they replaced them right away without charging me. I gotta say, they have TOP NOTCH customer service!

These are so sturdy and stylish. I love the simplicity of the aviators and the added special touch of the gradient lenses.

Come Thru-BLK/FADE

I was SO STOKED to find these shields! I wanted some shields that were somewhere between Jeffree Star and Danny McBride in Eastbound and Down–but wearable! These hit the nail on the head! CLASSIC!

As an ex optician, I find great value in a quality pair of sunnies. I want something that fits nicely, has quality lenses and is a fair price.

Oh, and their prices!!! All pairs were under $70 each. So I could NOT pass up the Buy One Get One FREE deal! They seem to always be having a sale. Today is the last day of the BOGO sale! I’m sure there will be something just as awesome around the bend! Keep an eye on their site. I am working on getting an affiliate code for you all and will be back with that!

RECIPE:: Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno popper stuffed PORK LOIN

PHEW! What a title, right??? I could not–for the life of me–come up with a name for this recipe. So here we are! It’s pretty self-explanatory. I took pork loin–sliced it down the middle–stuffed it full of jalapeno popper dip….and wait for it–WRAPPED IT IN BACON! Don’t worry, I really will post a more in depth recipe here.

Jalapenos are a staple in our house. I make a killer jalapeno popper dip and its so simple that I use it in a ton of recipes. It is just SO versatile!
1 lb. Bacon
1Pork Loin
8 oz.Cream Cheese
2 Jalapenos
1Garlic Clove

1. Slice jalapenos. De-seed. Dice.
2. Peel and dice garlic clove.
3. Cook 1/3 of bacon and crumble.
4. Slice pork loin vertically 3/4 of the way through the meat.
5. Preheat oven to 350°F.

1. Mix room temperature cream cheese with garlic gloves, jalapenos and crumbled bacon.
2. Stuff pork loin with cream cheese mixture.
3. Wrap pork loin in remainder of bacon.
4. Secure bacon with toothpicks if need be.

Place in oven for 1 hour or until pork reaches internal temperature of 160°F.

SLICE and Enjoy! Served with buttered veggies!

HALLOWEEN Dollar Tree Craft

I have seen a few variations of this Halloween craft on the many Facebook crafting groups that I am in. So, I wanted to give this one a shot. This is my version. My kitten, Ash was dying to pose with it as well. I will list my supplies, where I purchased them, cost and then go through the creation process step-by-step.

Skull & Candle Halloween Centerpiece modeled by Ash

Let’s start with the supply list::

🕷Toilet paper rolls & Paper Towel Rolls–Collected over a few weeks–$0
🕷Glue Gun & Glue sticks–Already had these–$0
🕷Sandpaper or nail file–Already had these–$0
🕷E6000 Glue–Amazon–$3
🕷Scissors–Already had these–$0
🕷Tray–Dollar Tree–$1
🕷Skull–Dollar Tree–$1
🕷LED Candles–Dollar Tree–$1 per 2pk–$5 Total
🕷Alcohol Swabs–Already had these–$0

This whole project took me about 3 hours (including paint dry time)! So let’s get started!

STEP 1:: Use the nail file or sandpaper to rough up the base of the tray where you will be gluing down the rolls and the skull. This gives a good base for the glue to adhere to.

STEP 2:: Use the alcohol swabs to clean off the surface of the tray so that the glue has a clean surface to adhere to.

STEP 3:: Use E6000 and to adhere the skull where you want it.

STEP 4:: Use hot glue and make a ridge about 2 inches down inside the rolls. This is so that the lights down fall to the bottle of the tubes.

STEP 5:: Cut all rolls to different heights to create a nice visual.

STEP 6:: Arrange tubes where you want them and glue them down. I made puddles of glue near the bottoms to make sure they adhered well and to create the illusion of wax puddles.

STEP 7:: Use hot glue and make glue drips from the top of each tube to imitate melted wax.

STEP 8:: Spray paint the whole thing! Let dry.

STEP 9:: Paint the white LED candles black so that they match the big candles that you just created!

STEP 10:: Turn on the candles, place in tubes and enjoy your new $10 Halloween creation!

Lights off version. Which do you prefer?

I hope that this tutorial was helpful. If you would like me to do more, please let me know!
