We moved into our house over a year ago and I’m still working on making it a home that we live in and not just a house that we reside at. Here is a small glimpse into a little of that personalization.
This was a small space and I knew it was doable in a weekend and once it was done I was going to feel like a huge task was completed.
I started by painting the walls this gray color that I actually MADE by mixing leftover paints that we had. I was told not to by the other half, since we wouldn’t be able to touch up if needed. But since one of my closest girlfriends is a paint store manager/color mermaid extraordinaire I wasn’t all that concerned. I then painted the shelf black and also painted the outlets and switches black.
Then came the fun stuff. Putting all the pieces together!!!
🧺Signs were made by me with my Cricut using reverse canvas technique. ((If you are interested in learning more about that let me know in the comments below)) 🧺Tin vase with cotton stalks in it were both from Wal*Mart. 🧺Beverage container I already had and added laundry soap. 🧺Laundry soap sign was made by me with my Cricut. 🧺Basket is just there to store all other cleaning products needed for the laundry closet. 🧺Clothes pin wreath was made with 3 packs of clothes pin and a wreath form from the Dollar Tree. ((If you would like a tutorial, please let me know in the comments down below.)) 🧺Lint basket was from Ross and I added the word “LINT” with my Cricut. 🧺Washboard was a $10 score from Offerup!
I love the way the laundry closet turned out. It was especially important for this to be a top-of-the-list project because its open and at the very top of the stairs in our home.
Please let me know what you think about this DIY home project! What is your favorite part? Least favorite part? What would you change?
I learned about Quay by getting a pair of Vivienne’s in my FabFitFun box last summer. I was obsessed with them. I wore them out! I am on my THIRD pair of just THESE sunnies. The first pair my sister was obsessed with so I gave them to her. I missed them so much that I bought myself another pair. THOSE got so scratched up that I bought THIS pair…and well, they were having a BOGO ((Buy One Get One FREE)) so I bought myself FOUR pairs!
These are sorta my go-to everyday pair!
These are my fun summer pair. Perfectly paired with white tee and jeans! These, however are a bit fragile. I did break these after wearing them twice. I messaged Quay and told them what happened and they replaced them right away without charging me. I gotta say, they have TOP NOTCH customer service!
These are so sturdy and stylish. I love the simplicity of the aviators and the added special touch of the gradient lenses.
I was SO STOKED to find these shields! I wanted some shields that were somewhere between Jeffree Star and Danny McBride in Eastbound and Down–but wearable! These hit the nail on the head! CLASSIC!
As an ex optician, I find great value in a quality pair of sunnies. I want something that fits nicely, has quality lenses and is a fair price.
Oh, and their prices!!! All pairs were under $70 each. So I could NOT pass up the Buy One Get One FREE deal! They seem to always be having a sale. Today is the last day of the BOGO sale! I’m sure there will be something just as awesome around the bend! Keep an eye on their site. I am working on getting an affiliate code for you all and will be back with that!
PHEW! What a title, right??? I could not–for the life of me–come up with a name for this recipe. So here we are! It’s pretty self-explanatory. I took pork loin–sliced it down the middle–stuffed it full of jalapeno popper dip….and wait for it–WRAPPED IT IN BACON! Don’t worry, I really will post a more in depth recipe here.
PREP: 1. Slice jalapenos. De-seed. Dice. 2. Peel and dice garlic clove. 3. Cook 1/3 of bacon and crumble. 4. Slice pork loin vertically 3/4 of the way through the meat. 5. Preheat oven to 350°F.
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Mix room temperature cream cheese with garlic gloves, jalapenos and crumbled bacon. 2. Stuff pork loin with cream cheese mixture. 3. Wrap pork loin in remainder of bacon. 4. Secure bacon with toothpicks if need be.
COOK: Place in oven for 1 hour or until pork reaches internal temperature of 160°F.
I have seen a few variations of this Halloween craft on the many Facebook crafting groups that I am in. So, I wanted to give this one a shot. This is my version. My kitten, Ash was dying to pose with it as well. I will list my supplies, where I purchased them, cost and then go through the creation process step-by-step.
Let’s start with the supply list::
🕷Toilet paper rolls & Paper Towel Rolls–Collected over a few weeks–$0 🕷Glue Gun & Glue sticks–Already had these–$0 🕷Sandpaper or nail file–Already had these–$0 🕷E6000 Glue–Amazon–$3 🕷Scissors–Already had these–$0 🕷Tray–Dollar Tree–$1 🕷Skull–Dollar Tree–$1 🕷LED Candles–Dollar Tree–$1 per 2pk–$5 Total 🕷Alcohol Swabs–Already had these–$0 GRAND TOTAL SPENT:: $10
This whole project took me about 3 hours (including paint dry time)! So let’s get started!
STEP 1:: Use the nail file or sandpaper to rough up the base of the tray where you will be gluing down the rolls and the skull. This gives a good base for the glue to adhere to.
STEP 2:: Use the alcohol swabs to clean off the surface of the tray so that the glue has a clean surface to adhere to.
STEP 3:: Use E6000 and to adhere the skull where you want it.
STEP 4:: Use hot glue and make a ridge about 2 inches down inside the rolls. This is so that the lights down fall to the bottle of the tubes.
STEP 5:: Cut all rolls to different heights to create a nice visual.
STEP 6:: Arrange tubes where you want them and glue them down. I made puddles of glue near the bottoms to make sure they adhered well and to create the illusion of wax puddles.
STEP 7:: Use hot glue and make glue drips from the top of each tube to imitate melted wax.
STEP 8:: Spray paint the whole thing! Let dry.
STEP 9:: Paint the white LED candles black so that they match the big candles that you just created!
STEP 10:: Turn on the candles, place in tubes and enjoy your new $10 Halloween creation!
I hope that this tutorial was helpful. If you would like me to do more, please let me know!
So, here we are…Trying Scentbird. Your first order is the only one that is different: You will get the perfume dispenser. I love this thing, it’s a pretty pearly white. So classy and elegant. I will definitely be keeping this in my purse at all times. You also get instructions on the dispenser’s use, which is shown below.
I just love the color of this dispenser. The pearly white is a perfect “neutral glam”.
Now, I honestly feel like it’s common sense on figuring this dispenser out. I played with it for a few moments and I was an expert and smelled amazing. But regardless, here are the instructions that came with it.
I love how in depth the card goes into describing the scent. Its like you can almost smell it from the description. This was a fruity musk. While, I’m mostly a floral girl I did like this scent. Its definitely a fragrance that would be best paired with a business suit and heels.
I’m thrilled to recieve new ones and expand my horizons. Please, tell me your favorite perfumes. What is your signature scent?
If you are interested in trying Scentbird, not only can you do so with THIS link…YOU get a free fragrance…And so DO I! So, thank you in advance for your support and adventurous spirit.
There are so many reasons to adopt from a rescue shelter. Aside from simply saving a life, you are also providing hope to an animal that may not have known love before.
Jasmine was adopted from a rescue that gets healthy dogs and cats from kill-shelters who are on the euthanasia lists. She was 9-weeks-old and was taken in by Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals (Also known as OFOSA). She was on the kill list simply because she looks like a “pitbull type dog”.
I don’t necessarily know her breed or mixed within her breed. All I know is that this dog has saved from anxiety, depression, bad relationships, loneliness and is my best friend. She has the most mellow demeanor and is eager to please. She probably hates wearing that scarf but she does it because she knows I think its adorable. Something incredible about rescue animals is how they seem to KNOW that you saved them and will do whatever it takes to return the favor.
I wanted another dog and so I took my first love, Daisy May to pick out her new sister. She ran through every dog and straight to a kennel with this little white and brindle pup who looked lonely and meek. I held Jasmine (before I knew her name) and she fell asleep in my arms. I was instantly in love. I knew that I couldn’t leave there without this girl. I paid her $295 adoption fee and took her home. From day one–she was simply the sweetest, cuddliest dog.
She is honestly the funniest, sweetest girl ever. Everyone who has ever met her loves her. She has transformed people who feared dogs into pitbull lovers.
If you are unsure about getting a pet…check your local shelters. They will let you volunteer as well as visit to get to know the pet that is right for you. You could also foster!
Please, if you are looking to adopt a pet…considering rescuing.
This haul is so that I can share my favorites and new discoveries with you all. If you are interested, keep reading.

First I got two Kylie lip kits. I was most excited about these because I haven’t tried them yet and I’m a sucker for various nudey taupes.
When I tested these on my hand they were smooth going on and dried to a very stubborn to remove matte. I think I will really enjoy these sets. At $13.50 each I think they were a great deal.
As I think its somewhat been established I am a fiend for lippies. I love MATTE, nudes and well makeup that old ladies would typically LOVE. So without further adieu I introduce the lip crayons and lip liners I got.
I just paired down my eyeshadow palettes and here I am buying two more but they were a steal at 2/$24 and these colors are GORGE!
I haven’t tried Colourpop before but have been wanting to and have seen so many wonderful reviews. I’m eager to give it a go! I work from home and don’t usually do my makeup unless I need to go into the office for something. I think tomorrow might be an exception so that I can try out these beautiful palettes.
I am incredibly picky about my mascara. It has to be a silicone bristle applicator and has to be waterproof as I wear contacts. So when I saw Urban Decay’s Lash Freak I was dying to try it. For $25 I was skeptical! So when I saw that Ulta has the smaller size I knew that was my opportunity!
I will report back on how much I love this stuff. I just have a feeling that its going to be amazing!
I also picked up a blush as I like pinky nudes and this one was perfect!
Now on to NAILS! Anyone that knows me knows that I love to do my nails. I ALWAYS have my nails done. Its usually gel polish with an accent nail or two. For about ten years I did intricate designs stamped on, decals, rhinestones. I just do NOT have the time for that anymore! So that is where PRESS-ONS come in to play. I have heard that the quality and styles are much better now-a-days so I thought I would give them a try.
A little secret about me is that I love nails so much I actually went to beauty school and became a license nail tech in the state of Oregon simply to learn how to do my own nails correctly and in a way that will preserve my natural nails. I also made some of the best friends that exist in beauty school!
MAN! I know this is getting LONG-winded, but we are about half done!
I love LOVE love love this Shea Moisture Body Oil. Not only does this stuff smell INCREDIBLE (It reminds me of Maui, I’m not kidding I asked to sniff a stranger’s hair)–but it makes your skin so soft and silky. Also, pro tip crush up a cheap highlighter and mix in the bottle for a gorgeous summer glow!
The way to my heart is through bath bombs. Yes, you read that right. My boyfriend knows when he wants to get on my good side to buy me a bath bomb. They are just so relaxing and make your skin so soft and make your bath so much more of a spa experience. I’m definitely a bath fiend.
So, here is the bath bomb haul that will close up this blog post!
